

Katsuko passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012, at the age of 87. Katsuko was born on November 14, 1925, in Fresno, Ca., to Sadahei and Kiyono Mukai. After spending time in the Jerome, Arkansas, Relocation Camp during World War II,
Katsuko returned to the Central Valley and married Robert Matsumoto on January 31, 1948. Together, they raised their four children on their family farm. They retired from farming in 2004.
Katsuko and Robert were avid Fresno State Bulldog fans and traveled from Hawaii to New York to support the teams. They also enjoyed traveling and went on trips to Florida, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the Caribbean, Australia and New Zealand.
Our family would like to thank the staff at San Joaquin Gardens for their loving care and support they have shown to both our parents.
Katsuko was preceded in death by Robert, her husband of 61 years; her parents, Sadahei and Kiyono Mukai; her brother
Makoto Mukai; her brothers-in-law, Tom and Mitsuru Matsumoto; and her sisters-in-law, Mikiye Mukai, Ayako Sasaki and Marie Nakajo.
Katsuko is survived by her children and their spouses, Patricia and Ed Bungo, Douglas and Linda Matsumoto, Noreen and Ben Yosako and Laraine and Gary Goto; her grandchildren, Grant and Michael Bungo, Shaun and Anna, and Bradley Matsumoto, and Austin and Alexa Goto. Katsuko was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Brennan and Emma Matsumoto. Katsuko is also survived by her sister, Sadako Sogioka; her brother and sister-in-law, Akio and Masako Mukai; and sister-in-law, Shizue Mukai. She was loved and supported by many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 10:00 a.m.
