Khamdy was born March 17, 1953 to parents In Lee (Mother) and Bounpheng Vongviset (Father) in Siang Kwang (Xieng Khouang) town in Laos. Their family was blessed with 12 children and Mom was the second daughter. They lived a simple life in Laos, but very memorable.
For eight years from 1967 to 1975 Khamdy was trained and worked as a US Agency for International Development (AID) nurse in Military Region 2 of Laos at Samthong, Ban Sone, and Long Cheng Hospitals caring for soldiers associated with the US CIA’s Secret War in Laos during the Vietnam War. This involved caring for wounded and dying Royal Lao, Lao-Hmong, American and other soldiers. During that time, she met our father Rogelio “Roger” Ploteña Trillanes who at the time worked with the United Nations staff in the area. They worked as a very good team and after years of working they decided to get married and was blessed with 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl. Jom, Rodel, Neil and Katrina. Jom was born in Laos, Rodel in Iran and Katrina and Neil in the Philippines. As the years went by we were additionally blessed with four fostered and adopted family members: Karen, Kezia (Keisha) and Theo Trillanes and LeDale Jenkins.
Khamdy spoke Khmu, Lao, Arabic, Farsi, Tagalog, Visayan, Hmong, Pharsi, Arabic, and English and went many places and had many cultural experiences. She did well and went forward with confidence. She loved cooking and eating spicy foods . . . and gardening, too. She was the best mentor and an old-school entrepreneur – working creatively to be productive.
About 1989 in Hinigaran Negros Occidental, Western Visayas, Philippines, Khamdy began her spiritual journey and truly sought, reached out to, and started to live for God. Her faithfulness, continuing in 1991 at Truth Tabernacle of Fresno, has brought her peace and contentment in life. She was a strong warrior through her last days, fighting cancer and never giving up, enduring to a very peaceful passing.
Khamdy remains always in our hearts! Sister, Mom, Auntie, Grandma, and Sister Khamdy. She is survived by her mother, her eight children, one sister, four brothers, over 20 nieces and nephews, and two grandchildren.
