

Larry Duane McCreary, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in Fresno, California, on August 12, 2024, at the age of 73. Born in Fresno, California, on September 6, 1950, Larry lived a life full of love, dedication, and community service.
Larry was a devoted husband to his wife of 46 years Barbara McCreary, and a loving father to his children, Brent McCreary (Andrea) and Kelley Hancock (Ryan). He delighted in his role as a grandfather to Julia, Evan, Seth, Piper, and Asher. Larry was also deeply loved by his mother, Arla Ro McCreary, and his brother, Michael McCreary (Lorraine), as well as his brother-in-law, Stephen Powers (Joy), and numerous nieces and nephews.
His father, William A. McCreary, and his sister, Myrna Powers, preceded Larry in death.
A proud graduate of Clovis High School and an Abilene Christian University student, Larry devoted over 40 years of his career to working for a food distribution company. His professional life was marked by his commitment and expertise, but his impact extended far beyond his work. Larry was actively involved in his community, notably serving at Yosemite Bible Camp and leading a cooking team at Woodward Park Church of Christ. His culinary talents were also showcased through catering many weddings for friends and family.
Larry had a passion for gardening and yard work, finding joy and peace in nurturing his surroundings. He loved traveling to destinations such as Sedona, Arizona, Lake Tahoe, Avila Beach, Alaska, and Hawaii, but his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family.
A private family burial will precede a memorial service to honor Larry’s life and legacy. The memorial service will be held at Woodward Park Church of Christ on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 10:30 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Larry's name to Yosemite Bible Camp through Woodward Park Church of Christ, honoring his dedication to service and his love for his community.
Larry’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His kindness, generosity, and dedication will be deeply missed.
