Lena Marie Monges

Lena graduated from Fresno Technical High School in 1950, and lived in both Italy and France while stationed abroad with her husband, who served in the United States Army. After returning to Fresno in 1963, she became a member of Belmont Country Club, and was a long time member and past president of the Italian Catholic Federation (ICF), Colombo Stella Lodge, Sons of Italy.

The family wishes to thank the angels from Nancy Hinds Hospice for their support and encouragement during her final days, and request that any donations be made to Hinds Hospice in her name. We also offer a special thanks to Jack Baker, her friend and caregiver, who was with her at her bedside until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mary Puleo; her sisters, Mary Guida, Gaytina Puleo Crunk, Josephine Puleo Rucker; her brother, Samuel Puleo Guida; and her former husband Charles J. Monges, the father of her four children.

Lena is survived by her four children, daughter, Lynne and husband Bruce Brownlow; son, Joseph Puleo and wife Lois; daughter, Lorre and husband Greg Kantz; and daughter, Leslee Ruth. She is also survived by grandchildren, Dallas Monges, Kara Higbee, Jennifer McConnell Hunt, Jill McConnell Skinner, Christopher McConnell, Daniel Caudillo, Alaina Caudillo Benson, Jarrod Ruth; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be hel at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
