For almost 62 years, Lesly has blessed us with her kindness, selflessness, love, and humor. Lesly possessed a strong Christian faith, and has joined both her mother and father in Heaven. She is celebrated in life by her life-long love and husband of 42 years, Bruce; son Lance and his wife Jessica of Coarsegold; daughter Brooke of Carlsbad; son Ian, currently stationed in Hawaii, and his fiance Brenda; grandchildren Allison, Paiton, Will, Chandler, and Paige; sister Kaye, and her husband Gary; brother John, and his wife Julie; sister-in-law Debbie; and countless nieces and nephews. Her two smallest family members are two Yorkies, Oliver and Fiona, who brought her great joy and companionship. There are numerous friends that meant the world to her, whom she spoke of often, and are better for having shared their friendship.
One of Lesly's greatest joys came from her five grand children, who over the years brought her huge smiles and enormous pride. She beamed when sharing a cute story, sweet antic, or photograph. They all loved and admired her tremendously.
She was a dedicated NICU nurse for 27 years. While in Junior High School, Lesly volunteered as a candy striper at a local hospital. Many of her loved ones believe this service, along with the birth of her premature son, ignited her love for the profession of nursing. As a nurse, she was a great mentor to her work family, and an enormous warrior for her tiny little patients and their families. She graduated from Fresno State University with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, while being a dedicated wife and mother. Lesly was a highly trained and specially skilled nurse. With countless accomplishments and extended certification, she proudly served as a Primary Resuscitation Nurse. She was often given the responsibility of taking care of the units' most ill and fragile patients. She was constantly encouraging people around her, and motivating them by example and words. Lesly had a love of nature, and all of the wonders that our local mountains have to offer. She and her extended family of children, grandchildren, siblings, and in-laws spent weeks each summer in Yosemite: hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting, and biking. Lesly had a natural gift and love for quilting. She shared this love with her sister Kaye, often enjoying "quilting excursions" throughout California. Her beautiful creations grace the homes of many family members and loved ones, and will be enjoyed for many years to come.
To all that knew and cared for Lesly, her family warmly invites you to share in the celebration of her life this Saturday, December 3, 2011, at 1:00 pm: Valley Christian Center 4649 E. Shields Avenue, in Fresno. Fellowship and refreshments will follow.
There is a public viewing being held on Friday, December 2nd, 2011, between 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm, at Lisle Funeral Home.
