Mae Fujiko Fukuda passed away on October 27, 2019 at the age of 89. Mae was born on September 20, 1930 to Sampei and Yasume Noguchi in Kent Washington. Mae was the sixth of eight siblings. At the age of eleven during WWII, Mae and her family along with all other Japanese Americans along the West Coast, were sent to Relocation Centers. Her family was sent to the Pinedale Assembly Center and then interned at Tule Lake, California, until the end of WWII. After the war was over, the Noguchi family relocated briefly in Stockton, California. The family then settled in Sacramento, California, where she graduated from Sacramento High. After graduation, Mae worked various jobs to help support the Noguchi family. Mae worked a number of years for the State of California Highway Patrol and Department of Rehab. During this time Mae was courted by Mits Fukuda and were married in 1953 and took residency in Easton, California.
She is survived by Jerry and Joanne Fukuda, Jill and Chris Tange, and Kevin and Lynn Fukuda. Grandchildren Ashley and Jeff Naemura, Eric Tange, Corrie and Blake Nishikawa, and Ryan Fukuda. Great Grandchildren Averi Nishikawa and Dylan Naemura.
Mae was active in the Bowles Buddhist Church and supported her husband with his civic, church, and entrepreneurial activities. Mae often provided at a moment’s notice refreshments and entertained Mits’ friends and business associates from around the world. She enjoyed many friendships in her 9 ½ years living at the Windham Senior Living. Mae was happiest when she could welcome the new residents at the Windham.
