Marjorie Marge Jean Cook

Marge was born August 7, 1930 in Fresno, Ca. to Henry & Mollie Smith. She attended Jefferson Elementary, Washington Jr. High, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1948. She was Pastworthy Advisor of Rainbow Girls Fresno Assembly #51, a member of Eastern Star, Fresno Chapter. She was a president of Fresno Newcomers Auxiliary. Marge enjoyed being a member of the Women's Trade Club, Los Amigos Dance Club, and The Assembly Dance Club. She was proud to be the Department Secretary for the School of Electrical and Computer at Fresno State, retiring in 1994.

Family and friends were the center of Marge's life. She had an infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and she was a very thoughtful person. Marge was detailed oriented and, like her mother, had an excellent memory for dates. She loved dancing to a good beat, and a good game of canasta or bridge.

Marge is survived by: daughter, Kathie Bassford & husband Chris of Roseville, daughter, Nancie Cook & partner Paulette Martin of Capitola. Grandchildren, Christie Bassford of Phoenix, AZ and Robert Bassford of Roseville. Loving friend and companion, Nolon Doss Jr.

Marge was predeceased by husband Robert Ralph Cook, infant son Richard Ralph Cook, parents Henry O. & Mollie Smith and brother Henry O. Smith Jr.

Funeral Services will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Belmont Memorial Park.
