Marvin retired from the Fresno Fire Department as a mechanic. He was also a church organist for 60 years at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Redeemer Lutheran Church, both in Fresno.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Joan L. Bier (Scharton).
He is survived by his sons, Don Bier and his wife Cindy, Russell Bier and his wife Eleanor, and Norman Bier; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel, on Sunday, August 10, 2014, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
A Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery on Monday, August 11, 2014, at 9:30 a.m.
A Memorial Service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Monday, August 11, 2014, at 11:00 AM
