It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the recent passing of our Beloved Mother Mary Jo. She was born March 5, 1935 to the loving parents of Charles and Nellie Evans. She spent her younger years in Ohio until the family relocated to Fresno. Where she attended and graduated from Fresno High and is where she met and married the love of her life Donald Lomier. After marrying they moved to Madera and is where they began to start a family of their own.
And in 1956 became the proud parents of their son Rusty and two years later they welcomed in their second child Sandi. While living in Madera Don worked long hours during the day and attended classes at night till graduating from the Police Academy. Although his time as an Policeman was cut short when he was shot in the hand by a crazy lady whom he was trying to help. I think that crazy lady is what brought to reality the dangers of the job and the added fact they had two small children that needed their daddy and a daddy who wanted to be there for us!
That is when Dad started working for the County of Fresno in the road dept and is where he started at the bottom and at the end of a shovel and worked his way up to a Supervisor and was respected and admired by all the men who worked under him.
They were happily married for over 40 years until his sudden passing at the young age of 59. As children we could not have asked for more loving and wonderful parents. We spent many years and Sundays at the race track where lifelong friends were made. We spent many years and Sundays at the race track where lifelong friends of the family were made. We went on many family Outings and did everything together as a family. It was a truly happy and wonderful time that will never be forgotten.
Mom made friends wherever she went. She loved spending time at her place in Pismo, She loved her “Friends of Fresno High” ladies group and always looked Forward to there monthly luncheons and gossip! Mary Jo was loved by everyone she met. She was a very kind and caring person and it was her warm and wonderful smile, her kindness and generosity that made everyone feel like they were special. She made everyone feel special and was a quality that made for lifelong friendships. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Nellie Evans and brother Bill Evans . And Her loving husband of over 40 years Donald Lomier. She is survived by their pride and joy son Rusty and daughter Sandi. Mary Jo is survived by another daughter as well. That is Rusty's wife Lois who is and always will be considered as a second daughter. I kinda think that is why we tolerated “Grumpy” “Lumpy” “Dumpling” or one of the many different nicknames given to Rusty over the years! We wanted to keep Lois around even if it meant Rusty was part of that package. That part is strictly my opinion and without sibling rivalry and a little bit of humor at my brothers expense. Well lets just say I couldn’t pass up the chance! We have never got through this difficult time without the help, love and support she continues to contribute to our family everyday. We are yet to figure out why or how she has endured it for so long with Rusty. We are just grateful that she did! She is a wonderful addition to the family and with or without Rusty she always will be. Mary Jo is also survived by her four grandchildren John, Jennifer, Courtney and Shelby who she cherished and enjoyed every moment with . They loved her dearly as she did them as well. She also is survived by 5 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She will never be forgotten and will be loved forever. We will be celebrating her life and will announce when decided. We are waiting for Rodger to hopefully make a full recovery, because he was a big part of her life and we feel we could not celebrate her life without Rodger being there. We hope to know more soon and will announce any services for her at that time.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.lislefuneralhome.com for the Lomier family.
