Morris S Martinez

He retired from the City of Fresno, Recreation Dept. after 25 years of service. He also served in the military as a mail carrier.

Morris married the love of his life, Alvera Monges in January, 1939.

Morris was a special man, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, Godfather, cousin and friend to all who knew him. He was a very generous man, he would give his last dollar, no questions asked to anyone in need. He was a faithful church going man up to his passing. He was extremely charitable to numerous organizations.

Morris was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Vera; son, Bernard Martinez; daughter, Arlene Borunda; and grandson, Eric Borunda.

He is survived by sons, Morris R. Martinez and Anthony Martinez; daughters, Christine Cruz and husband David, Celeste Avla, Priscilla Martinez Morrison and husband Don, and Elizabeth Martinez. He also leaves behind 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren; and his little stray friend Tiger.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
