Nancy Louann Bretz

After graduating high school Nancy took a job at the Bretz Floral Shop in Clovis. Shortly thereafter she attended a floral design class in Los Angeles and came back to the Bretz Floral Shop to work as a Certified Florist. Not long after, Nancy met Billy Bretz, and they were married in 1968.

In 1972 Nancy and Billy moved to Meadow Lakes, Auberry, CA where they raised their two boys, Judd and Drew. In 1975 Nancy took a job as a baker at the Auberry Elementary School cafeteria. During these years Nancy was very active in the Auberry Mothers Club and enjoyed volunteering for the boys little League program. And somewhere in this busy schedule, Nancy found the time to attend Fresno State where she received her master's degree in teaching. Nancy left Auberry and started her teaching career in Sanger, CA. Nancy retired from teaching in 2012.

Nancy enjoyed many things through the years. In her younger years she loved high diving, roller skating competitions and riding her horse “Roanie”. Later years she loved snow skiing, water skiing, cooking, writing stories, reading and being creative. Most of all, she loved teaching.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband,William R. “Billy Bob” Bretz, and her parents, William and Virginia Beck; and she is survived by her son Judd and his wife Kimberly Bretz (Tollhouse, CA); son Drew Bretz (Fresno, CA); special friends Steve and Annette Hoff (Roseburg, OR); ten grandchildren: Taylor, Hannah and Kevin McGowan-Bretz, Hunter Bretz and his wife Cecilia (Arcata, CA), Cody and Casey Hoff, Scott Layton and his wife Ann Marie (Riverdale, CA) and Markie Layton, Kenny Graham; six great-grandchildren Braylee Kelley, Bowen McGowan-Bretz, Lainey Chevalier, Leannne Layton, Venus Bretz, and Audrey Schubert; sister Gini Richardson of Clovis, CA.

A graveside service for Nancy will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Tollhouse Cemetery, 28114 Tollhouse Rd., Tollhouse, CA 93667.
