Nick Raul Martinez, 68, passed away September 2, 2023, at his home in Bullhead City, Arizona. Nick was born October 3, 1954, to Nick G. and Hope L. Martinez in Fresno, CA. Nick joined the US Marine Corps in 1971 and served 11 years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his time in the Marine Corps, Nick earned his GED and later earned his high school diploma from Irvine High School in 1978. Nick began working for the California Department of Corrections in 1994. He obtained his Bachelors in Math in 1995, and began teaching within California Prisons. In 2005, he was appointed as an Assistant Principal of a comprehensive high school within the California Youth Authority. He returned to the custody side in 2008 and retired from the department in 2011. Nick went back to work as a truck driver to stay busy from 2014-2018, where he was able to travel to all 48 of the US’s lower states. Nick retired and moved to Bullhead City, Arizona in 2018 where he purchased a home and resided there with his love, Dolores Montoya until his passing.
Nick was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Cecilia Neidhammer, and his brother Freddy Cabuto.
He is survived by his daughters Cecilia Stone, Inez Ferreira (Husband Albert Ferreira), Nichol Quihuiz (Husband Anthony Quihuiz); five grandchildren, Marina Ferreira, Kevin Stone, Albert Ferreira, Abigail Stone, and Clara Stone; two sisters, Adrienne Ortega, and Lydia Martinez.
Funeral Mass for Nick will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Queen of the Apostles, 4636 W. Dakota Ave., Fresno, CA 93706. Nick will be laid to rest in St. Peter's Cemetery.
