Born in Salinas, California, Patricia—known to many as Patty—grew up surrounded by the warmth of family and community. In the 1980s, she made her home in Fresno, California, where she built a beautiful life rooted in love, connection, and kindness.
Patty worked as a sales representative for SmithKline Beecham, where her warmth and outgoing spirit made her a natural at building relationships. She had a unique gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued.
Guided by her Catholic faith, Patty lived with compassion and generosity. She loved meeting new people, sharing stories, and bringing joy wherever she went. She had a deep affection for cats, was an avid reader, enjoyed crafting, and cherished game time with her family.
Patty is survived by her cherished daughter, Kristin Lumsden, and her beloved granddaughter, Zoe Williams Lumsden. She also leaves behind her loving nieces, Jeanine Schmidt and Kelly Robinson; her nephews, Ed Schmidt, Tim Schmidt, and Doug Kennedy; and many others whose lives were touched by her gentle and courageous spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Gordy" Lumsden; her siblings, John Wayne Hayes and Diane Gil; and her parents, Selma and John Hayes.
Patty will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering positivity, and the love she gave so freely. She was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will take place at the Grand Moments at Figarden, 3255 W Figarden Dr, Fresno, CA 93711 on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 12:00 PM
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, located at 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720.
