Peter Mogensen was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. After a long battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully on June 17th, 2023 at the age of 77. Peter was surrounded by his loved ones at the time of his passing.
Peter was born on April 3rd, 1946 in Viborg, Denmark. He lived here with his mother and grandparents until he was 12 years old. He would then move to a small town in California called Easton with his mother. Shortly after, Peter would be accompanied by his brother, Jens Mogensen. Peter attended Washington Union High School during his time in Easton, and shortly after his graduation he met the love of his life, Cheryl Contrestano. They married and had two daughters, Stacy and Michele. He would also later become a grandfather to three grandchildren, Bradford Michaela, Carly Alvarado, and Nicholas Alvarado. Peter was devoted to his family and always knew how to put smiles on their faces.
Peter found a strong passion in design and architecture, leading to his desire to become an architect. This determination pushed him to teach himself the skills needed to become an architect. He successfully accomplished this goal and became a partner to a company known as SOMAM, Inc. Peter was also a highly dedicated member in the Fresno State foundation. He attended every home football game with his family for multiple decades no matter the circumstances, rain or shine.
Please come celebrate Peter Mogensen's life on July 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. at Whitehurst Funeral Home.
