She was an avid gardener and loved tennis. While attending Fresno State University, she was active in many theatrical productions. She was lovingly known as Aunt "Fifi" to her adoring nieces and nephews.
Phyllis is survived by her son, David and his significant other, Anna Journey; sister, Shirley Freund and her husband, Ralph; sister Geraldine Hansen and her husband, Orville; grandsons, David Wyle St. John and Andrew St. John; granddaughter Vivienne St. John; and three great-grandchildren, Michael, Rachel and William St. John.

A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 11:30 am.
