After attending Fresno High School, Richard enlisted in the United States Navy where he served aboard the U.S.S. Chara. After his term in the Navy, Richard joined the United States Air Force. Richard was a member of the Local Teamsters Union and retired in 1999.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Hoagland.
Richard is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carla Hoagland; son, Daniel Hoagland; daughters, Jeri Woods, DeAnna Gunier, and Donna Bartlett; grandchildren, Danielle, Dallon, Hailey, Kayla, and Steven; nephew, Mike Hoagland; and niece, Patty Hoagland.
A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held at a later date.
