He was born in Fresno.
He was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad.
Richard is survived by three daughters, Patricia Howell and her husband Steve, Cheri Renna, Debbie Renna-Rahnama and her husband David; two sisters, Annette Scelzi, and Margie von Furstenrecht; four grandchildren, Keely Scott, Jason Scott, Mason Lawrence, Dayton Renna-Rahnama; and four great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at Whitehurst , Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
He will be privately laid to rest at St. Peter's Cemetery.
