Rick was a graduate of Aplington (IA) High School-1969, North Iowa Area Community College-1971, and Iowa State University-1973. For 31 years, Rick worked as a Human Resource Manager. With Roxie and his children, he lived in Lake Mills, IA; Fort Dodge, IA; Old Saybrook, CT; Mason City, IA; Salina, KS; and Fresno, CA.
He is survived by his wife Roxanne (Pedelty), and children Rachael A. (Barnett) Ray and Jim Ray, Robert James and Corina Barnett, and Russell H. and Kylie Barnett, and seven grandchildren. His surviving siblings are Stephen D. Barnett, Andrew J. Barnett, and Rhonda S. Barnett.
Besides his family, Rick’s passion was sports. His family asks that any memorial donations be made to the Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research.
