Rigoberto was born on January 9, 1931 in Santa Cruz de las Flores in Jalisco, Mexico. At the age of 18 he became a mechanic. Rigoberto later met the love of his life Socorro Avila and were married in Guadalajara Jalisco , Mexico on December 21, 1957. In 1961 they moved to the United States and resided in Mendota, Ca for 58 years. In 1982 he became a proud American Citizen.
Rigoberto worked for Coit Ranch as an Agricultural Mechanic. He was semi retired in 1994. He then decided to continue working part-time for 2 more years and he finally retired in 1996. He was hard working and a good provider for his family.
He enjoyed barbecuing for his family and loved working on his children’s vehicles.
He was an avid San Francisco Giants fan. He never missed watching a game and went to a couple of home games.
Rigoberto was a wonderful, loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle and friend who loved to tell jokes and love reminiscing about his youthful years in Mexico.
Rigoberto was very active at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mendota, Ca. He was involved in the Guadalupanos Society and Cursillos.
In 2019 Rigoberto and his wife Socorro moved to Fresno, CA.
Rigoberto is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Ernesto Trigo and Maria de Los Angeles Flores Trigo, his brother Abelardo Trigo of Mexico and sister Socorro Banda of Firebaugh.
Rigoberto is survived by his wife of 64 years Socorro Trigo, his daughter Lupe Lira, her husband Jose Lira and children Elizabeth and Jose Lira Jr., Richard and Michael Hernandez, his son Joe Trigo his wife Anna Trigo and children Audrey and Megan Trigo, his son Guillermo Trigo, his wife Josefina Trigo, and children Maria, Angel, Socorro, and William Trigo, son Richard Trigo, his wife Virginia Trigo and children Richard Jr. Trigo, his daughter Socorro Armas, her husband Kevin Armas and children Kaitlin and Noah Armas, his son Hector Trigo and children Hector Jr. and Joel Trigo and Alyssa Trigo Testa. He is also survived by his sister Evelia Soledad Flores of Mexico, 12 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
A Visitation for Rigoberto will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720.
A Recitation of Holy Rosary will occur Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Mary Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, 4636 W. Dakota Ave, Fresno, CA 93722.
A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Mary Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, 4636 W. Dakota Ave, Fresno, CA 93722.
A Committal service will occur Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Fresno Memorial Gardens, 175 South Cornelia Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
