Bob was born on July 4, 1946 to Bonnie and Bill Weigandt in Fresno, California. After graduating from Fresno High School in 1964, Bob enlisted in the United States Army where he traveled throughout Europe. Following his military service, he joined the City of Fresno’s Police Department, where he diligently served his community for over 25 years, proudly contributing to various units, some of which include the undercover narcotics unit, the motors unit and the establishment of the K-9 unit. Bob later worked as a senior investigator at the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office. Bob’s tenure for the Fresno Police Department and Fresno County District Attorney’s Office was marked by a deep commitment to upholding justice and protecting and serving others.
In retirement, Bob loved spending his time riding motorcycles, playing golf, boating and fishing down the Colorado River with family and friends, following politics while loudly supporting his candidates in the most un-politically correct t-shirts, playing Duke of Earl on repeat, and most famously, taking his grandchildren on their memorable golf cart rides while playing his favorite role of Papa. Bob was a wealth of good advice mixed with his fair share of idioms and dad jokes. The legacy of lessons, advice and humor he shared will always be remembered and celebrated with a smile and the love he gave to all his family and friends will be deeply missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Bill Weigandt, mother, Bonnie Weigandt, and sister, Becky Klisch. He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters, Michelle Miller, Melissa Weigandt Findley, Stephanie Foglio and husband John; and grandchildren, Luca and Olivia Foglio.
In memory of Bob, the family requests donations be made to the animal shelter of your choice, or your favorite bottle of wine or spirits to enjoy with family and friends while laughing and celebrating this precious life and the short time we have on God’s great earth.
