Rosina Hoffman Lenhof Dydyn was born July 28, 1930, in Keschinzi, Yugoslavia, to Josef and Elisabeth Hoffmann. Rose lived in Yugoslavia until 1945 when she and her extended family were sent to work camps in Yugoslavia at the end of WWII. Following their escape from Yugoslavia, they were moved to several allied military refugee camps ending up in the American Red Cross refugee camp, Lager Haid, near Linz, Austria. It was there that she met Karl Lenhof and they were married in 1950. Their first child, Jacob (Jack) was born in 1952 while in Austria. In 1955, the Catholic Relief Foundation sponsored the family to legally immigrate to America, bringing the family to Fresno, California. After settling in Fresno, Elisabeth, Silvia and Erich were born. The family was actively involved in the Fresno German Club and Our Lady of Victory Church.
In 1961, Rose began cosmetology school and began her long cosmetology career. She opened a shop in the family home and in later years worked at the Wyndham Assisted Living facility. While she loved to do hair, she was also passionate about her flower gardens and entertaining her close German friends and the extended family.
She loved to cook and bake. She was a wizard at taking various ingredients and making a scrumptious meal out of them and creating incredible baked goods for her friends in the “coffee klatch.” She was always able to pull some dessert together even with just a few minutes notice. When not using her gift of hospitality, Rose loved to go dancing and travel the world with her second husband John.
Rose will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her devotion to the Lord Jesus, her perfect outfits, make-up and jewelry and her infectious ability to make friends wherever she was. She will be sorely missed by her family and her lifetime of friends as well as those she recently made while living at The Grove.
Rose passed away to her Lord on January 26, 2026, in her home at The Grove Assisted Living in Fresno, CA. She is survived by her brother Peter Hoffmann and his wife Marty, of Nekoosa, WI, four children Jacob (Jack) Lenhof and his wife Karen, of San Diego, CA, Elisabeth Holland and her husband Bob of Burgettstown, PA, Silvia DeRuvo and her husband Fred of Concord, GA and Erich Lenhof of Fresno, CA. She was Omi to nine grandchildren and Omi Omi to over twenty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marie Hoffmann Abt, her first husband, Karl Lenhof, John Dydyn her second husband, great grandson Isaac John Lenhof and most recently, daughter-in-law Jaclyn Lenhof (wife of Erich Lenhof).
