Rose Marie Emler, 85, joined her husband Bob "Tody" Emler in Heaven on Friday, January 22, 2016. Born to George and Hazel Pieper in Fresno on July 20, 1930, she was proud her perpetual 39th "Jack Benny Birthday" was the day of the first Moon landing.
She married Bob Emler on January 30, 1953 and a generation ahead, raised four children while working full-time for AT&T and Pacific Bell for over 47 years.
Rose was very active in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives and often went on trips, to games, attended events, or visited. The "go-to" Mom and Grandma, she always offered her help, and her legacy is the extended "adopted" family that now exists far beyond the children she gave birth to.
After family, Rose's biggest joy was her beloved Fresno State Bulldogs. She was a "red waver" before the wave existed, a Time Out Club member, and held season tickets for football, basketball, and softball for decades which she attended with her long-time friend Gil.
She has left her footprints on our hearts and we will never, ever, be the same.
Rose is survived by her children, Karen and husband Tom, Rob and wife Cathy, Terri and husband Steve, all of Fresno, and Tamara and husband Stephen of Hood River, Oregon; grandchildren, Stephanie, Alyssa, Kimberly and husband Chris, Kyle, Gavin, Kara, Camden and wife Sarah, Jarrett and Megan Rose; and great-grandchildren Lurenn, Mason and Derric.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns and Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Graveside Service will be held at St. Peter's Cemetery on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
