Rose Peracchi, only child of Giacomo and Mary Nan Oberti died peacefully at home, Thursday, May 26, 2016. The only child of Northern Italian immigrant parents, Rose was born at the family farm located on Jensen Avenue, close to Sanger, California August 22, 1915. Rose's life was forever imprinted by her Italian heritage, the early loss of her mother and the love of her family.
Intelligent, artistic, witty and strong- willed, Rose fell in love and married her teenage sweetheart, Gene Peracchi. Without her mother and a young bride, an early purchase was the Emily Post Book on Etiquette, that she would come to use as a guide.
Together, Rose and Gene worked hard, raised their sons, Gene and Don, took care of Rose's father, and remained faithful to family and the Catholic Church.
Rose was a self taught seamstress, establishing her own drapery business, hiring her friend as her one employee and contracting with West Coast Draperies. She worked until retirement in 1977.
Kitchen was the center of their home where Rose's culinary skill became an art form to be enjoyed by family and friends. She generously shared her skills, teaching first her sons, then her daughters-in-law and eventually her grandchildren in the art of Italian food preparation; gifting all with pasta boards and necessary accoutrements to make pasta, gnocchi, risotto or biscotti.
Life was simple but rich in family and friends. She was her sons and husband's greatest fan and fiercest protector, supporting their love of sports and hunting. Vacations were close, mostly to Capitola or Lake Tahoe. In 1978, Rose and Gene traveled with family in-mass to Italy to visit her one remaining aunt and cousins. It was a wonderful reunion with her mothers people, and has remained so ever since.
Rose is predeceased by her parents, husband Gene, and son, Gene. She is mourned by her son Don and wife Judy and their children; Jeff and wife Sandra, Hillary Peracchi Bell and husband Eric, and Mark Peracchi. Also by daughter-in-law Heather and her children Jennifer Peracchi Harmon and husband David, and Daniel Peracchi and wife Katie as well as Gene's two daughters Gia Peracchi Tomey and Cara Peracchi Douglas.
Additionally Rose leaves a legacy of 17 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, many Italian cousins and family friends.
Of special note are the ladies who gave care to Rose in her home these past few years, Rosa Vega, Ramona Renteria, Christina Sanders, Ruzanna Petrosyan, Rhonda Petrosyan and Lidia Rojas- very special group for which we have been blessed to have in our lives. Also thanks to the very loyal friends and family who blessed Rose with their many visits, the wonderful staff from Hinds Hospice and dear friend Dr. John Telles.
