

Ruth Miriam Van Noy of Fresno, California passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on January 15, 2026, at the age of 100. She was born to Joseph and Lillian Johnson on August 24, 1925, in Fresno, California.
Ruth is reunited with her father Joseph and mother Lillian; sister Alice Harelson (Elmer); brother Paul Johnson; loving husband of 60 years David Van Noy; grandson Joseph Van Noy; and daughter-in-law Diane Van Noy.
She is lovingly remembered by generations of family who cherished her deeply, her children, Robert Van Noy (Donna), Marlene Bartsch (Jerry), and Roger Van Noy; her grandchildren, Amy Protzen (Maurice), Staci Van Noy, Shawnna Lenard, Nina Van Noy, Paul Bartsch (Alison), and Lindsay Ashton (Matt); and her great-grandchildren, Miranda and Matthew Protzen, William, Zachary, Nathan, and Noah Van Noy, Brendyn Lenard (Maddie), Alyssa Lenard, and Parker and Landon Bartsch, along with many other loving relatives and friends whose lives she touched.
Ruth attended Houghton Elementary School and graduated from Central High School. She later married David J. Van Noy, and together they raised their three children: Bobby, Marlene, and Roger. Ruth dedicated many years to serving the Lord and faithfully attended church for decades. She was a devoted member of Bethel Temple and Christian Life Assembly where she worshiped alongside her family and friends.
Throughout her life, Ruth worked as a seamstress, a salesperson in the yardage department at Sears, and as a secretary for the Fresno Unified School District. A natural provider, she took great pride in caring for her family. Sewing brought her joy, as did watching her favorite game shows, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Ruth was known for her kindness, generosity, and strong heart. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a feisty spirit, and a giving nature that touched everyone who knew her.
A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 1:00pm at Christian Life Assembly, 4821 E Weldon Ave, Fresno, CA 93703. Memorials are suggested to the family for further designation.
