Though I didn't see Ryan as often as I would've liked, the times we did spend together were joyous. He had a magnetic personality, and I would find myself gravitating toward him when we would see each other at a crowded gathering. He was always so genuinely interested in what was going on in your life, so excited for the things that you cared about. I was lucky enough to go backpacking with him and Sean and a couple of other good friends up near Silver Pass in the High Sierra some years ago. It was such a beautiful experience, one that I will cherish forever. There were challenges and tribulations during our trip, but for me, this only enhanced how profound the time we all spent together was. A true fellowship. Ryan had such a comforting presence, and both he and Sean were welcome sights at any gathering, including my wedding to the love of my life. Our hearts go out to his family, especially Sean, in this painful time. We hope you all find peace while Ryan is at rest.

      Ryan and I had so many good times growing up. We shared the same sense of humor and became instant friends. He definitely was the light in the room and I admired that about him. 

    I remember going to his house and riding our bikes to subway which I thought was the coolest thing ever. Making Oreo milkshakes when we got back and played video games.  There were so many more memories that I will never forget. 

    I know he is in a better place now but we sure did lose a good one to soon.  Rest easy my friend. 

Ryan was the very first person I met after transferring to Saint Anthony's in the third grade. He was my student ambassador and I had no idea, at that moment, we would become such close friends. Quite possibly, the most uniquely talented person I have ever met. Whenever he found something that interested him, his enthusiasm to share his newly found discovery made it impossible for you not to share his sentiment. Two memories stand out the most from our childhood. The first would be the mousetrap car competition, which must have been in the fourth or fifth grade. We set out to build a masterpiece, a true display of American muscle. It was a disaster but with the help of Mr. Ray, some vinyl records, and pieces from an Erector set, it worked. Not only did it work, but we also took first place, and that day we would bask in the glory of victory. The second would be the two of us, again in the third or fourth grade, after school on the swing set. We had recently learned how to jump from the swing set, well he thought he had. I had the great pleasure of watching him leap from the swing shouting, "watch this!", only to see him fall short of his mark. He had broken his arm, so I did what any man would have done in the same situation, I went and got his mom. 
You are loved Ryan Ray, and you are missed so very much. 

Dear Ryan and friends,

I have so many fond memories of you over at your place near the 99. I was telling some of our buddies last night about a great time we had watching the Indiana Jones 4 movie in the background at your place and you just saying out of no where "does everyone else realize this is the worst movie ever made?" and we consequently agreed.  You are definitely one of the smartest and funniest people I know. Every conversation I ever had with you was filled with sincerity and interest; you were definitely one to appreciate talking to others and have a lively discussion. Rest in peace my man.

Ryan had classes with our daughter growing up.  He was such a sweetheart & always had a smile.  My heart broke when Sheree passed away & now Ryan, but he’s in her arms in Heaven now reunited.

Our prayers are with Gregory & Sean during this extremely difficult time. We are always here for you.

You were always a great friend. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had was spent with you and the boys. You always made me laugh so hard it hurt. I’m going to miss your unique sense of humor and personality. I hope you’re at peace. I’ll always love and miss you.

Ryan, it was an honor. I looked up to you like a big brother. You taught me so much, and I’ll forever be grateful for our friendship. I’ll be rocking some Sia for you today buddy. Love you, and I’ll be seeing you again. 

Ryan, your vibrant personality lit up our lives. Through your music, deep conversation and your fantastic beard.  I was lucky enough to have been in my 20’s when Ryan and I became close.  The group of friends we had  shared  some of the best moments of our life. The giggles “baby boy” will forever put a smile on my face. Love you Ryan. We will meet again. 

I was a year older than Ryan but knew him from St. Anthony’s. When I was a sophomore we had biology together with Mr. Duncan. He was so smart and was the best lab partner. But beyond being smart he was was so uniquely cool. I will always remember his wild curly hair.  He would talk about music and I remember him bringing his guitar to class one day and singing for us all with such ease and confidence. I know he will be missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family. Rest In Peace Ryan. 

My earliest memories of Ryan are when we were alter servers together. I remember being really stoked that I was assigned to be a candle bearer along his brother Sean who I had known since kindergarten. Ryan was our leader and honestly made those services something to look forward to. As a kid I know I definitely take it as seriously as I was supposed to but if memory serves Ryan would let us horse around just a bit until it was time to begin service or we were in view of the priest or congregation. That didn't stop Sean and I from trying to hold back grins and laughter when holding candles for mass. Years later I would see Ryan almost as often as I did Sean. Everytime I popped over Ryan always greeted me with a massive smile and told me it was great to see me. It's those little things I didn't realize I would miss or reflect on but came flooding back when Sean told me the awful news. The Rays have always been one of my favorite families. Every one of them has been kind and welcoming to me over these 27 years I've gotten to know them better. All the love to you.

Ryan was one of the funniest, most intelligent people I’ve ever known. I met Ryan through Sean, and right away he made me feel welcome and included. We became fast friends. One day my brother got a call from a scammer saying that I was an inmate in the Fresno County jail. My brother was alarmed, so he called Ryan. He immediately offered to drive down and bail me out, no matter how much it would cost, no questions asked. That’s the kind of friend he was. Loyal and would do anything for you. I’m going to miss him a lot, but his memory and all the great times we shared live on. R.I.P. brother.

Ryan Ray, I remember in 2015. We had just started playing Music together  in Hocus Opus, which would become Personal Computer.  We mostly knew each other through William.  As time went on we started to spend time together more and more, through our mutual love and respect for video games,  card games,  and all games. I gave you Baldur's Gate for your Birthday,  and we beat it in True Master Gamer style. Great Times.   I miss you Bro. Thanks for inviting me into your Home,  Life, and Family.  The space you inhabit in my Heart will Forever remain yours. I Love you my Great Friend, fellow Musician,  and Artist.  R.I.P

Ryan was one of my good friends since kindergarten. It was in high school that we really became close. He had this physical comedy that made everyone laugh so hard. I miss laughing to the point of tears with him over the simplest things. He made life, fun.
We made films and edited them together. He made amazing music with such ease. We could talk  for hours about philosophical ideas and dreams of the future. 
I'll miss everything about him. He was one of the good ones. RIP Ray. I'll never forget you, sweet friend


I was a classmate of Ryan’s from K-12 in the graduating class of 2003. We were friends throughout the whole time.  He was  intelligent but I also remember him being quite athletic. We were especially close in 4th grade where we come connected while running on the track team at St. Anthony’s. I remember being impressed with his speed! He definitely inspired  and brought a competitiveness out of me. 

I have other good and positive memories of him that I certainly will never forget such as his fantastic sense of humor, friendliness, and just being a person of integrity. He will not be forgotten. Take care my friend. My condolences to his family.

We have literally know Ryan his whole life. He Always greeted me with a  big smile and hug. Even as a little boy he was a sweetheart and brought a chuckle and smile to our faces.  Ryan will be forever in our hearts and  will  never be forgotten. I pray that your wrapped in the loving embrace of your Mom, who also left us way to soon.

So saddened to hear about Ryan's passing. As Dre and Priscilla already pointed out, Ryan had such a charismatic and comical personality. He was also very intelligent and witty! Always a fun person to be around and to have deep and funny conversations with.

Ryan and I were closest while attending St. Anthony's. We had a lot of good times growing up. Ryan was the inspiration for me to become a musician. In eighth grade we both decided to get guitars and learn to play together. We both got Fender Strats within 6 months of each other and learned all kinds of music. We loved punk and alternative rock back then. I have fond memories playing Green Day songs from the Dookie album, 3rd Eye Blind, and many others.

If it weren't for Ryan, I would not have grown into the musician I am today. He was super talented and it made me strive to be a better musician myself. I had a blast being in a band in high school, college, and after college for a few years, and Ryan was the inspiration for that decade of my life. I'll forever be grateful to him for that.

Anyway, I'll miss you buddy, and I hope you have found a sense of peace in the afterlife.

I will never, ever, forget Ryan Ray.  He is utterly unforgettable in every sense of the word.  He had such a huge and incredibly bright personality and was easily one of the most creative and intelligent people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.  I remember in AP Comp class at Memorial we had a writing exercise where each person was only given 5 minutes to describe any scene.  I still remember Ryan’s to this day.  What I myself wrote - or anyone else did that day, I have no clue, but Ryan described in hilarious and excruciating detail standing outside at a park on a beautiful warm summer’s day and desperately needing to pee while waiting in line for the bathroom.  He had the whole class and Mr. Ferd in tears with his completely off-the-cuff story.  I remember wishing I could write so effortlessly like that.  

Whether it was hearing him play guitar or making everyone laugh with his stories, a million little inside jokes or just being a great friend and believing in others so wholeheartedly, his memory is forever etched into my life.  I so wish I hadn’t lost touch with him these past few years.  Lost touch, but never forgotten.  He popped into my mind again just last week and I’m devastated that it is now too late.  His last messages to me were full of hope and encouragement and I will miss him and remember him dearly.  

My deepest condolences to the Ray family  and all of Ryan’s friends - he was truly an incredible and inimitable human being and the world is a darker place without his light. 

As a 14 year old freshmen, meeting new people at a new school would be scary to most but I was thrilled. Coming from a small school, it was interesting to see how diverse my new classmates were but one person shown a little brighter than most. Ryan Ray. He could sing, he could draw, he was a talented musician, he was so funny and incredibly smart so of course I became his #1 fan. He never knew it and most of my friends had no idea how I felt but he was a superstar in my eyes. We went through high school as friends and during those years I saw how much everyone admired him. One of my favorite memories was of him casually playing his guitar after school and playing Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven to a small crowd. He never demanded attention but there was no denying how magnetic he could be. I knew in my heart that he was going to be someone special some day. A few years after high school we reconnected and I found out he was struggling with personal issues and I naturally wanted to help him. He didn't allow it for too long and felt I "deserved better" and I wish I would have tried harder and fought longer to be there for him as most of us do. I know his heart ached for his mother and I hope he can now rest easy in her arms. Sleep sweetly my friend and I'll miss you forever.
