Sheri Gilbert Carl, 72, of Clovis, California, passed away on April 9, 2026. Born in Selma, California, Sheri lived a life marked by deep love for her family, steadfast faith, and a generous spirit that touched everyone around her.
Sheri was a devoted mother to her sons, Joshua Carl and Jared Carl, and a loving mother-in-law to Sarah Carl and Karissa Carl. She found immense joy in her role as Grammy to Mia, Jack, Jones, and June, cherishing every moment spent with them. She also adored her beloved cat, Butters, who was a constant companion and source of comfort.
She shared an especially close bond with her mother, Lydia Gilbert, who was not only her mom but her very best friend.
Sheri built a dedicated career working in banking with Bank of America and later in payroll with Payroll People. Outside of her professional life, she embraced many passions over the years, including motorcycle riding, tap dancing, watching disaster movies, reading, sewing, and working on puzzles. She was affectionately known for her love of cats and for always sharing posts to help lost pets find their way home.
Those who knew Sheri will remember her as stubborn, sassy, and deeply selfless. She gave of herself freely and consistently put others before her own needs. She valued her independence and never wanted to be a burden, a reflection of the strength and humility that defined her life. Above all, she loved her family fiercely and raised her sons with that same spirit of care and devotion.
Sheri was a faithful believer and an active member for many years at Clovis Hills Community Church. Her faith was a guiding force in her life and a source of comfort to those who loved her.
She will be deeply missed—especially her laughter, her presence, and even the simple, everyday moments like hearing her talk to her cat.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at New Covenant Community Church, Student Ministry Center, located at 1744 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720. In honor of Sheri and the color she brought into the lives of others, guests are encouraged to wear bright colors.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center, a cause close to Sheri’s heart.
