

Stanley James Kjar, Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of his community, passed away on December 29, 2024. He was 78 years young. Born November 15, 1946, in Fresno, California, to James and Edwina Kjar, Stan’s life was marked by unwavering dedication to family, country, and his profession.
He grew up in Easton and received his education at Washington Colony and Washington Union High School before graduating from Fresno High School in 1965. Following graduation, Stan bravely served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His courage and commitment were recognized with the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, earned during the intense Tet Offensive in January 1968.
On July 26, 1969, Stan married the love of his life, Pamela Hayes. Their enduring union spanned 54 years, until Pamela passed away on January 8, 2024. They are together, once again in heaven.
Stan dedicated nearly 40 years to owning and operating Kings County Equipment, a Massey Ferguson Tractor dealership, in Hanford, CA. and Kjar Rental Company, in Selma. He was known for his hard work, integrity, and expertise. He excelled in sales and service, but most of all building relationships with his colleagues and clients that would span decades. He earned multiple awards as a top volume dealer for Massey Ferguson.
Stan celebrated his Danish heritage by participating in the Danish American Historical Society and Dania Lodge. He was a past president of both organizations. He also visited Denmark many times with family and friends. He was also a Past Master of Selma Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his daughter, Karlene Graham, his son, Stanley Kjar, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Cecilia, and his cherished grandchildren, Kera, Lauren, and Erik. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1:00pm at Washington Colony Cemetery, in Easton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Alzheimer’s Association of Fresno.
