Terrance “Terry” Bradley, 81, of Fresno, California, passed away on July 17, 2025, at St. Agnes Medical Center surrounded by family. Terry was born on September 27, 1943, in Port Washington, Wisconsin to Alfred and Ann (Ulian) Bradley. He grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Port Washington High School before attending the University of Wisconsin, where he received his BA in Education and Accounting and MS in School Business Administration. After graduation, Terry married the love of his life Jeannie Tenpenny in Port Washington and taught and worked in Wisconsin as a teacher and administrator prior to moving to Fresno, California in 1976 to work as the Administrator for District Services for Clovis Unified School District.
At Clovis Unified, Terry helped guide the District through numerous budgetary challenges and capital projects over many years. While working at CUSD, Terry received his EdD in School Management from the University of LaVerne in 1986. Mainly working behind the scenes, Terry was involved in the dramatic expansion of the District, including the construction of numerous elementary, middle and high schools, as well as other building projects. He was known for his deep knowledge of school finance and the best ways to navigate the political complexities of the school funding process in Sacramento. Along the way he made many lifelong friends and mentored numerous other administrators at Clovis Unified. His goal was always to to take care of the students, faculty and other administrators of Clovis Unified, while also being mindful that the taxpayers were getting the best value for their support.
In 2002, after avoiding the position for many years, Terry agreed to serve as Superintendent of Clovis Unified. He continued to oversee the further expansion of the District facilities. During his tenure, Clovis Unified received multiple state and national awards and recognitions for excellence.
After his retirement in 2009, Terry continued to work as a consultant for several school districts in California through June 2025. In 2009, the CUSD board of trustees surprised him by announcing the new education center (including an elementary, middle and high school) planned for south Clovis would be named after him. He was appreciative, however, he was also perplexed given his preference for modesty and sharing accomplishments with others. Fortunately, he was able to participate in the ground breaking of the Terry P. Bradley Education Center, but would have certainly loved to see its completion and the hundreds of students and faculty enjoying it.
Terry was a life-long Catholic and parishioner of Holy Spirit Parish in Fresno. His faith was important to him and he passed it on to his children. His faith in Notre Dame football was a close second. While his primary passion was making sure the students, faculty and administrators of Clovis Unified had the best the district could provide, he enjoyed traveling to the University of Notre Dame several times a year for many years to root on his beloved Fighting Irish in person.
Terry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeannie Bradley; daughter Kelly Cihak (Raymond); son William “Bill” Bradley; grandchildren Joseph Cihak (Elizabeth), Rachel Noble (Joseph), Katie Lussier (Kyle), Maria Cihak and Sara Cihak; and great-grandchildren Logan Noble, Eleanor Cihak, Steven Cihak and Oliver Noble; brother Brian Bradley (Teri), sister Colleen Carter (Robert)
