He was an alumnus of Oklahoma Baptist University where he attended on an athletic basketball scholarship. Thomas was also a veteran of WWII serving three and a half years in the US Army. He moved to Fresno in 1950, was a General Building Contractor for 40 years building custom homes, and was an active member of Lifeway Baptist Church for 62 years.
Thomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His good humor, his stories and the examples he set to those around him and devotion to his family and church will be missed. He had a full life and was loved by all those who met him. There was not a person who met him who didn't like him; he was such a genuinely nice guy with a good heart who easily accepted you in his life. He was generous with his time and helped those who needed it.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Opal; son, Gary Nichols and his wife Susan; daughter, Jan Germeroth and her husband, Craig (deceased); grandchildren, Zachary Nichols and his wife Erin; Colin Nichols, Chase Germeroth; great granddaughter, McKenna Nichols; brothers, Marshall Nichols, Earle Nichols, and Sister, Altha Betts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
