Vincent Luis Riojas

Vincent passed away peacefully at his home in Fresno, CA on November 6, 2014 surrounded by his family. Vincent was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Henry C. Riojas and Anita Padron Reyna on July 19, 1943.

He leaves behind siblings Alberto, Jose Arturo, Eduardo and Jose Javier (Joseph) Riojas and sister Gloria Anita and their respective families.

He was preceded in death by his oldest brother Henry P. Riojas and both of his parents and his longtime friend Dr. Bruce Loganbill.

Vincent completed course work for his Doctorate at University of Southern California and served as a distinguished member of the US Army. He was a loved and respected educator, friend, colleague and mentor. Vincent worked tirelessly for his students and his community. He had a passion for reading, languages (polyglot), music and all the art forms. He supported causes too numerous to mention and was blessed to have had the opportunity to travel the world during his lifetime. He completed 38 years of service between the ABC Unified School District and Long Beach Community College.

He was a consummate professional who encouraged others to always "put their best foot forward."

Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Sunday, November 16, 2014 starting at 10:00 am and then followed by the rosary and eulogy at 7:00 pm.

Special thanks to his nurse Yvonne and the Hospice group at St. Agnes Hospital and to all his friends from near and far who sent cards and called regularly to lift him up and other members of his family who helped with his care.
