Wes is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Bernice; daughter, Denise; son Brad and his wife Joy; granddaughter, Jessica; sister-in-law, Charlotte Kerner; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and many friends. Wes’s brothers Melvin and Monroe, as well as his parents Carl and Marie preceded him in death.
Wes served his country in WWII as a Navy yeoman in the San Diego Naval Headquarters. He was a general contractor for over 60 years and partner in Kerner & Sons Construction with his father Carl and brother Melvin. First Church of God of Fresno was a big part of Wes’s life. He, along with his father and brother, were the general contractors for the church construction. Wes later served as a Sunday school teacher and board member. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of the church’s school, First Church Christian Academy.
Wes was an avid duck hunter and fisherman which he enjoyed with his son Brad. He also liked spending time with his family in many different activities.
Wes will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We take comfort in knowing that we will be reunited with him in heaven someday.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of God, Fresno. Lisle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Remembrances and condolences may be posted in Wes’s Book of Remembrances on Lisle’s website.
