She was 1 week shy of her 94th birthday.
She graduated from the University of the East dental school in the Philippines in 1952 and soon opened a very successful dental practice that served the residents of Bagong Barrio, Caloocan‐Metro Manila, Philippines for 33 years until her retirement.
She married Leonides Esguerra in 1955. They were married for 39 years until his
death in 1994. They had 5 children together: Edgardo (spouse: Elizabeth) Esguerra, Enrico (Eden)
Esguerra, Elizabeth (Roberto) Dulce, Ernesto (Victoria, deceased) Esguerra and Evangeline (Milan)
Mariano.
Zeny valued hard work and education – priorities that she instilled in her children, who
often assisted in her clinic. She eventually migrated to the United States in 1988, residing first in
Fullerton, CA and later in Fresno, CA.
In Fresno, she enjoyed her retirement and cultivated rich friendships at the Heritage Adult Health
Care Center. It was here she met Eufrosino Rasgo who became her dear and loyal companion for
more than 15 years. Zeny enjoyed dancing, coin collection and gatherings.
Zeny is survived by all of her 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was the
last of the Garcia‐Evangelista clan originally from Licab, Nueva Ecija. A great number of close
relatives from the Philippines and greater Fresno area will greatly miss her.
