

Beatrice Mary Redd (Bea or Honey Bea), 55, passed from this life on to her eternal home on August 2, 2016 at the Lake Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lewisville, Texas with her family at her bedside. Bea was born on August 8, 1960 in Baton Rouge, LA, the 11th of 12 children from David and Lucille Blanchard.
Family and friends recalled Bea as being honest, straight-forward, opinionated yet always kind. She was known as a giving person and always desiring to help the less fortunate. You knew where Bea stood, and yet she was always respectful of other’s feelings. Bea was an independent insurance agent for AFLAC however if asked, she would point to being a stay-at-home mom, being a homemaker and an entrepreneur as her real passions. She worked as an independent merchandiser where she worked tirelessly in helping to bring new products to market. Bea was extremely proud of being a born again Christian. She attended the New Leaf Church in Little Elm, Texas. She loved the time she spent time there fellowshipping with the wonderful folks gathered there. Bea was a Christian who loved to express her faith and share with others her love of Christ. There was no doubt who her greatest love was, the Savior Jesus Christ.
Anyone who ever had the pleasure of associating with Bea knew that her love of conversation would become evident very quickly. Bring up a topic and she would get started. With Bea you never had to worry about not having anything to say. Bea loved to talk and she loved people! If you ever met her in a grocery line, be prepared as she would have your phone number and you would most likely be invited over to lunch.
Bea graduated Brusly High School located in Brusly, La in 1978 and later attended a Technical School where she focused on drafting and design technology. She used her education to design homes and buildings including scale models. Bea was very athletic as she loved to swim, play basketball, softball and volleyball. She was also chosen as a cheerleader while in high school. Bea had a multitude of interests and hobbies including scrapbooking, cake decorating, sewing and reading. Her background steered towards her love of photography where she operated her own studio. Bea also had a passion for jewelry and essential oils that only accentuated her zest for life. Bea found genealogy to be very rewarding which allowed her to locate several lines of ancestors that are well known to most people. She loved to travel with her family especially on the Amtrak where she enjoyed the mountains, exploring unique architecture and meeting people. Bea had a crush on the actor Jimmy Stewart, loved the movie “Somewhere In Time” and truly enjoyed listening to CeCe Winans.
Bea’s true love of her life was her husband, Jerry Redd who she married on May 24, 1985 after they had met at the same place of employment four years prior. Their first date was a costume party dressed as a princess and a frog! She was blessed with four daughters. Bea was preceded in death by her parents, David Blanchard Sr. and Lucille Blanchard as well her beloved cat, Smokey and dog, Daisy.
Her siblings included Lucille Labauve of Brusly, LA; David Blanchard Jr. and wife, Kitty of Brusly, LA; Kay Brown of Baton Rouge, LA; Tommy Blanchard of Brusly, LA; Beth Lewis and husband, Richard of Sugarland, TX; Bobby Blanchard and wife, Susan of Mobile, AL; Denise Rockwell and husband, Dale of Jacksonville, FL; Timmy Blanchard of Brusly, LA; Steven Blanchard of Baker, LA; Donna Suire and husband, Ralph of Addis, LA; and Ruth Landry and husband, Brent of White Castle, LA.
Her legacy is carried on by her children: Tina Blanchard of Baton Rouge, LA; Jessie Bell and husband, Shaun of Searcy, AR; Jenna Hanna and husband, Cameron of Lewisville, TX; and Janee Redd of Frisco, TX.
Bea’s real prides of her life were her six grandchildren: Everly Redd Dowden of Lewisville, TX; Brendan Hooge of Pine Grove, LA; Trevor Hooge of Pine Grove, LA; Allie Hanna of Lake Dallas, TX; Sydnei Herring of Lake Dallas, TX and Morgan Herring of Lake Dallas, TX. She was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bea was loved while here with us and will continued to be loved through time and all eternity.
