

Bernard Washington, a beloved family member, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at the age of 60, at the Medical City Hospital in McKinney, Texas at 5:50 pm. He was born on April 24, 1963, to Evelyn Washington and Bernard Harris in Charleston, South Carolina. Bernard Washington lived a fulfilling life and left an undeniable mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Directly after high school, Bernard Washington joined the Air Force and served for four years, earning the Medal of Honor during his service. After his time in the Military, he moved to Texas and began a career in logistics and became a truck driver for several Trucking Companies in Texas. He was a natural born chef at heart and always had a dream of opening his own restaurant. Although he did not open his own place of business you could always expect Bernard Washington to cook a delicious meal at home. He also loved watching football and could recite the stats of any football team or game whenever asked about the team. Although he swore he was not a Cowboys fan, but a Washington Commander fan.
Bernard was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Washington and father Bernard Harris. As a devoted family man, Bernard Washington leaves to cherish his fond memories with his loving wife, Linda S. Washington, two sons: Bernard Y-W. and Jarbari Bernard W., one daughter LaTasha (Frank) and one grandson Jamarquis, five sisters Peggy Mitchum(Bernard), Lavonnia( Cookie) Middleton, Tamara Washington, Cynthia Vanderhurst(Derrick)and Pandora Doctor and a host of cousins ,nieces and nephews. He dedicated his life to providing unwavering support and love to his family, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 1st from 12pm until 2pm at Stonebriar Funeral Home in Frisco Texas.
Interment will be held Tuesday, January 2nd at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Texas at 10:00 am. Please do not be late, as they will start on time.
Following the interment, a Celebration of Bernard Washington’s life will be held at Stonebriar Funeral Home at 12:00 pm, followed by the repass. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their memories of a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Bernard Washington, who valiantly battled cancer, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society. Donations will support ongoing research and provide assistance to individuals and families affected by this relentless disease. Bernard Washington will be dearly missed but will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.
