I am so grateful that I was able to work with Dave for the past couple of years.  He was a genuinely kind man, always generous with his time and offering his help wherever it might be needed.  He is greatly missed.

Dave was so very proud of his family,  often sharing stories about your successful careers and the many adventures you had together. I cannot imagine how hard this loss is for you, but know that Dave loved you dearly and he always will.

My heart is so sad knowing that Dave isn’t at the other end of the phone.  I have such wonderful memories of him from Middle and High School in Papillion and being fellow Cornhuskers in Lincoln.  He was always smiling and ready for the next adventure.  Dave was also willing to lend an ear and kind words of advice anytime day or night. He loved his family fiercely and spoke about them often.  I will miss my friend dearly.  Until we meet again…

My sincerest condolences to the Horton family for your loss. Dave was a truly kind and genuine person who never knew a stranger! 

Dave and I started working together about 5 or 6 years ago. We hadn’t know each other long when he learned about some of the personal difficulties I was dealing with at the time. Dave being the caring person he was immediately reached out to offer his time, assistance, a helping hand and just be there to listen when I needed it. 

He had a heart full of love and compassion for anyone who needed it and we are all better people for having know him!

I met Dave in 2002 when he worked at The Mailbox, which was my largest customer.  We built an extraordinary business relationship that continued nearly 20 years, as Dave worked for various companies in the mailing sector.  I had the privilege of sharing so many thoughts, plans, and experiencing many successful business projects together.  It was truly amazing.

Through this relationship, we became friends.  With Dave, I felt safe to just be real with him, close enough to say he was like a brother to me.  We would talk about fun times, hard times, great restaurants, and spar about barbeque styles.  I loved hearing his thoughts and opinions.  We didn’t speak often, but when we did, it was always so meaningful to me.    Dave was there for me when times were tough.  Recently, he gave me the courage to pursue a new path in my working career.  And I will forever be grateful for knowing this wonderful, good man.  Love you Dave.

Dave, I miss you man! You were an amazing friend and colleague. You helped me so much in my career and you were always there for me personally, no matter how big the issue. You were the smartest and kindest person I ever knew. My prayers are with your family.

Deepest Sympathies. My family wished you too. however those words ring hollow. I wish had the words to say or do something to bring you all even the smallest of comfort, for that i am sorry.
But i want to share one of my first memories of Dave.  it was the night of our rehearsal dinner.  Dave may have driven separately and was leaving so i walked him out to his car. As we walked he put his hand over my shoulder and said “you are part of the family you are loved” 
I have always cherished that memory. The thing i will do is to try and honor Dave’s memory for who he was.


Back in the 80’s, I was in the same Fraternity as Dave at UNL.  I have fond memories of him being a great guy. 

I convey my sincere condolences & sympathies to Dave’s wife and family.

My heart hurts for Dave and his family. He always made everyone around him smile and his quick wit. He truly was one of a kind. I love you Dave.  Rest easy my brother. 

My heart hurts, knowing what all of my family is going through.David was such a strong presence. He meant so much to me as a cousin.May comfort be found in all the good memories. 

David was like a "work dad." He was an incredible colleague, mentor, friend. David was always available for any guidance whether it was work or life. He continually talked about his family and really coached me sometimes on what it's like to be a mom to 2 boys of my own. The last time I talked to him we were talking about parenting - he shared with me - "You're never not going to be mom - it just gets so much better." And he shared with me a story about his wife and boys having dinner in Chicago and sending him selfies. David really emphasized that while it might be exhausting learning this new role of Mom in life, it is so amazing and worth it.  He was validating when I questioned myself, whether as a professional or a mother and he really grounded me. He was really an incredible cheer leader of everyone and made you feel super special. I genuinely attribute him to a lot of opportunities I've had professionally to him, which changed my life and my family's situation. David was a one in a million person, and I am going to truly miss him - Stephanie Prince

To the Horton family, I am so sorry for your loss.  I was lucky to have had the opportunity to work with David and I wanted to share that he was a shining light.  He was an incredible person to work with -  kind, thoughtful, respectful, extremely positive, and always took the time to understand everyone's perspectives, build bridges and foster collaboration.  He was an amazing colleague, friend and mentor to everyone he worked with, and will be missed.  May he rest in peace.

Dave, you started as my customer and quickly became my friend.   Even though we didn’t see each other everyday, I knew you were always there.  There is nothing you wouldn’t do to help others.
I valued your opinion so much because you were always fair and so smart!   I promise to stay close to the love of your life, Susan, and of course the boys.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Dave's passing. Dave was an awesome manager at work and was also truly a great person. He was always willing to listen and provide direction and I owe him a lot to my own career development, and I will forever be grateful of that. Rest in Peace Dave.

Susan - I hope you,  Andy, and Matthew are surrounded by much love at this time. I recall how much time you and Dave spent together and I truly admired your friendship with each other. May all your wonderful memories comfort you and your family at this time. I miss you and want you to know I'm here anytime you want to talk.

Susan,  while I did not know Dave- I feel like I knew him through your stories of the Gell family adventures. I remember when y’all were planning your Germany trip- he was such a good sport about wearing authentic attire! Dave was a bright light and his love of life lives on in your boys. Thank you for all the help with with every single move I made from 1986-2000. Thank you for the change in your pocket for the donuts.  Thank you for installing our kitchen floor. It still works.  Mostly, thank you for loving my sister with all your being and for giving me two wonderful nephews.  Please watch over us and identify any nasty weeds to avoid.  We love you and miss you terribly.  Be at peace.

I am so very sorry for the loss of Dave. He was a great manager and leader, and an even greater friend.  I miss his wisdom, his upbeat can-do attitude, and his camaraderie. He was great to work with and for, and I was blessed to have been able to get to know him.  He loved and was so very proud of his family, and I am so very sorry for your loss.  He will be sorely missed.  

My most sincere and deepest condolences to David's family and loved ones.  David was an extraordinary man who always showed the most patient and kind behavior.   I've only known David for a short time but the impact he had with me and other colleagues goes beyond words. To Dave’s family and friends -  please accepted my deepest sympathies on your loss.  He was a wonderful man who was kind, caring, and so full of life. It was evident how much he loved his family and how proud he was of his sons.  He was a great manager and mentor and will be greatly missed, not just by me but, by all those he touched.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.


My deepest condolences go out to family and friends.  David was a great colleague who left a legacy at JPMC that will no doubt be followed by others.  I'll remember him as a hard working, happy man who I enjoyed sharing the love of cooking we both had in common.  I'll never forget him recommending me for a promotion, and all the insight he shared with me.  He will truly be missed.

My condolences to Dave's family and all who knew him.  I was lucky to meet Dave a couple of years ago and privileged to be able to call him a boss, a mentor and a friend.   He was always there to assist and help, his concern for myself and others always present.    He will be missed.

He was also a force for good at work, always willing to help anyone who needed it, and I know his presence will be deeply missed.
