I worked with Dave at TIFS, I was the consulting RD who at times was his pain. I respected him & just learned of his passing as we have lost another kitchen employee this weekend, Mrs Sherry! That’s 3 of the original  6 long term employees there. It’s hard to loose friends but I know they are in a better place & our faith will carry us through. JG

I worked with Dave in the cafeteria at TIFS. I was sitting around reminiscing about the past and I thought of Dave. I had an overwhelming desire to reach out to him and see how he was doing. I googled his name and his obituary came up. Missed him by a couple of months. I wish I could have said goodbye to a man who became a friend when I didn’t know I needed one. Literally the kindest soul I have ever met. I will miss you, Dave.  And it looks like a lot of other people will, too.

My memories of Dave Wink go back before our mutual days at Poly.  Although a few years younger than them, Dave, Carter, Lenny and David Black would let me hang with them.  What I remember best was Dave's extraordinary personality---what a fun-loving, people person he was and judging from the photos on this page, remained that way throughout his life.  I was glad that I got the chance to see him briefly when he came up to the Baltimore area about 10 years ago and met with Carter and I then to reminisce. I had no idea what to say after my father spoke at your funeral. My dad has always been a person you don't want to follow in a speech. But, with that said, what I would've said is, I love you. I love you as my Godfather. I love you for the one person that shared the love of 7-11 hotdogs and big gulps with me. The creepy guy who would come up behind me and say "hey pretty girl". The hockey lover that accepted and loved my husband.  The person that always had quarters for our girls. The man that helped me make the best rat trap car in highschool. The guy who took a 20 year old washer and dryer that I bought at Goodwill while I was in college, and made it work. Our love for Boarshead meat (because, it's the best). Your chicken salad.  Your love for family.  Your unconditional love for us. I miss everything. Everything about you. Your smile, your laugh, your hat. Just, really everything. You were the best Godfather a girl could ask for. I will miss you until we meet again Uncle Dave. 

David was a young guy in my dad's church (Hampden Methodist) when he, my brother. Carter, and I hung out together. He was a regular guest at our home so much so that he was considered a member of the family.  David was a major contributor to the youth group. His wonderful sense of humor was always welcome. Most of all, David loved the Lord and witnessed regularly to His place in his life. God bless you, David, from the entire 22 Clews family.

 I  liked talking to Dave when we got together for our annual Christmas dinner at the keg.  I am so glad that we got to see him in July. He will be truly missed.       RIP Dave!!!!

Dave was one of several young adult leaders of Scout Troop 151 in the late sixties/early seventies. As a young person, being able to get out of the city and go camping was really important, and I am grateful to Dave that he did his part in making that happen. I remember his wide smile---the same smile in his picture at age 73 that he had when he was in his 20s---and how good a cook he was. Dave, thank you.

To the BEST Uncle & Godfather a girl could ask for,

Photography, electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, sewing, model train extraordinaire, grill master, chef & culinary expert, the list goes on and on.  Not to mention you could literally fix ANYTHING. I learned so much from you.  Your talents were many and you gladly shared them with everyone you knew.

You were the absolute best brother to my Dad. The WINK Brothers "Dynamic Duo", where laughter was never in short supply. Your humor, unconditional love, and respect for one another through the years was incredible to watch and a testament to what love & family are all about.

Always with an upbeat hello and heartwarming smile, you were disarmingly friendly and genuine to everyone you met.  What a blessing to our family, and like a second grandfather to my kids.  All the football games, Ocean City trips, holidays, dinners with Abby, Jack & Dad after sports practices, rides for Mom's doctor appointments, too many to count. I will be forever grateful.

The hugs, the belly laughs, and your smiling eyes.  You loved BIG and have left an indelible mark on all of us.  You were a man of faith, and you loved your country.  I take comfort in knowing you are with God, and in the arms of Jesus the ultimate healer.  Save me a seat at the crab feast in heaven Uncle Dave, you know we'll be the last two picking.

I just want say Thank for being yourself, Your were lots fun  when we work together in the kitchen and all the catering we did I enjoy my job love coming to work. I have one regret is I didn't say good-bye to a friend. You are in God hand now being Peace my Friend.

David my sweet nephew you were such an important part of my life.  You boys always treated me with so much love and respect! I will miss your visits to Westminster. Until we meet again may you Rest in Peace!

I always enjoyed talking with David. Very intelligent and knowledgeable. He was also a special person to my wife, Aurora, as she and David shared an interest in the Food Service industry. She and David shared ideas and recipes. He was just a delightful person to know. Rest in peace, David.

Such an amazing man. I will miss seeing you at Sunday school and knowing you were around. About 18 years ago my son and I sat in front of you and your family each Sunday at church. I loved hearing you sing behind me and loved how you treated my son and always made us both feel welcome and special.  He was about 4 and you never cared if he was sitting or standing or talking, you wanted us there. My prayers for peace for your sweet family. Just as you were always praying for my family, I will be praying for yours. 

Ernie Banks was quoted saying “the measure of man is in the lives he’s touched.”   David, in your life you hit nothing but home-runs. 

Whether as a brother, husband, father, uncle, pop-pop, friend, or co-worker, we are all better for having known you and been recipients of kindness.   Your love of your family was second only to your love of the Lord.

I will always remember the cross-country road trip to Ocean City, MD using CB-radios with Sandy and Jennifer.  And you were always so kind and welcoming to me and my children. 

Your memory will live on in all those you touched.  
You will be missed greatly,

My Dear Brother David,

I remember when mom put you in my arms in Dad's 1946 Ford Coupe.  I thought to myself, what is this? I wanted a brother to play with, but you were just a baby.  But then you grew up and played we did, whiffle ball, bowling, and golf. You have been my best friend ever since.

Thank you for the way you looked after Mom & Dad when I was away in the Army. I was happy to get back after three years and be a family once again.  You were the best man at my wedding and the best brother anyone could have.

When you moved to Texas, I was so happy to have you close.  We have been inseparable ever since.  I looked forward to dinner every Tuesday night.  We never knew where we would end up.  It was our night together, talking and laughing, and I treasured every minute.  Thank you for your love and caring with Shirley and the girls.  I know you will walk with God finally free of pain and suffering.

When my son was little, he was learning the names of family members who live out of town. When I got to a photo of my aunt and uncle I said, "This is Aunt Sandi and Uncle Dave." He thought I said Aunt Sandi and "Cool" Dave. That nickname stuck!! We miss you,  Cool Dave! You were the best uncle ever!!

    Dave was a special man.  Everytime  we saw each other he would greet us with a big smile and friendly hello!  He was a very talented photographer (he took photos at our wedding), a very accomplished chef, and a genuine, wonderful cousin.  We will always hold dear our trips to the beach, our trips on the ferry to Atlantic City,  and our long talks and laughs on the way!   He always will have a special place in our hearts.  Dave Wink, you will be very missed but remain in our hearts forever.

The warm welcoming  he gave us the first time we met at America’s Keswick. From then on we had the pleasure to work and socialize with a Truly Godly and loving man..  He had become family and always will be remembered .

To know David was to love David.  Dave had an enormous heart and an infectious smile.  Dave embodied all that was good and kind.  Our family will forever cherish the memories we shared and the love and the joy David brought to each of us.  Our love and deepest sympathies to Sandi and the family.
