Diane Dussair was born in Anthony, Kansas. In elementary school, she moved to Trinidad, Colorado so her father, Vincent, could teach music at Trinidad Jr. College. The family moved again to Pueblo, Colorado and Glendale, Arizona before settling in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Diane graduated from Highland High School.
In college, Diane began her studies at McMurry College in Abilene, Texas before moving to Lubbock to finish her degree at Texas Tech University. She graduated in 1966 with a degree in Elementary Education. Her first job was teaching third grade in Wheatridge, Colorado.
Diane married Donald Alexander Cunningham (Dan) of Lubbock, Texas in June of 1968. They were married for fifty-three years before Dan’s passing in October of 2021. The couple has two children, Craig Cunningham of Frisco, Texas and Katy Moomaw of Atlanta, Georgia.
Diane and Dan raised their children in the Dallas/Fort Worth suburb of Duncanville, Texas. Both Diane and Dan were active in the Duncanville Regional Arts Association and the Duncanville United Methodist Church. Diane also enjoyed playing tennis.
Dan’s career in the Smartcard Industry moved them to Potomac, Maryland and then back to Texas where they settled in Austin. During their years in both Potomac and Austin, the couple amassed a group of very dear friends.
In 2022, Diane moved to Frisco, Texas where she quickly made friends with her positive attitude and bright smile. She played lots of bridge, participated in social events, was an avid listener of classical music and liked spending time outside when weather permitted.
Her parents, Vincent Dussair and Margaret Gibbs Dussair, her brother Kent Dussair and her husband, Dan, preceded her in death. Diane’s son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Karen Cunningham, and her daughter and son-in-law, Katy and Barry Moomaw survive her. Four grandchildren, two nieces and five nephews also survive her. A small family service will take place at a later date. To honor Diane, please put on your best smile, visit with your family and learn how to play bridge!
