Ella Mae Russell age 90, surrounded by the love of her family, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, February 7th 2018 at 8:49am. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at Stonebriar Funeral Home, Frisco, Texas on Monday, February 12th beginning at 3:00pm. Internment will follow, Tuesday, February 13th, 9:00am at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Ella Mae was born in Clayton, Oklahoma on August 9, 1927 to Edward and Stella Fields. She was an honor student and graduated Valedictorian from LeFlore, Oklahoma High School.
She was married to her best friend and the love of her life Daniel Eugene Russell for 60 years, who preceded her in death. They spent most of their marriage in Fort Worth and Lubbock, Texas. She moved to The Woodlands, Texas in 2014 to be near family.
Ella Mae was a devoted Christian and was very involved her entire life in church, wherever they lived. Her strong Christian faith was her guiding principle in the way she conducted her life. She lived by God’s word every day. She was most recently a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. She always displayed a wonderful testimony to those around her, exemplifying a strong Christian faith.
One of her greatest joys in life was hosting holiday gatherings and cooking for her friends and family. Ella Mae’s interest in fashion was evident throughout her life by the way she carried and dressed herself every day. Ella Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Eugene Russell, her parents Edward and Stella Fields, brothers Edgar Fields, Billy Fields, sisters Marie Bunton, and Glenda Jones.
She is survived by her daughter Sue Scarborough and husband Pat, her son Dan Russell, Jr. and his wife Audie; 3 granddaughters Crystal Garrett and her husband Jeff, April Cole and her husband Jason, Kelly Shidisky and her husband Mike; 7 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Kylie Garrett, James, Joseph and Andrew Cole, and Colton and Ava Shidisky. She also has many nieces and nephews with whom she remained in contact.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Lea Mobley. She was our mother’s “angel on Earth” during the last three years of her life. We are also very appreciative and thankful for all of the loving Caregivers that assisted her. Each one cared for her with such love and dignity throughout her illness. We would like to thank the staff and nurses at Wood Haven Village and Oasis Hospice for their loving support, compassion and care during her final days.
