Gabbriel Atao, 17, passed away at 3:01 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at The Medical Center of Plano. He was born on November 23, 1999 to Jorge and Amalia Atao in Grand Prairie, Texas. He is survived by his parents, Jorge and Amalia Atao of Frisco, TX, his older sister Vannia Atao and her fiancé Michael Winklejohn of Las Colinas, TX, his grandparents Cirilo and Maria Nativivdad Atao of Dallas, Texas, and his grandmother Rosa Norabuena of Lima, Peru. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alcides Barboza.
Gabe was in his junior year at Heritage High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society, the track and cross country team, Student Council, and DECA. He would have graduated with the class of 2018. Heritage High School will be honoring his legacy with a scholarship in his name. Gabe will be remembered as someone who always lent a helping hand, his drive to make his family proud, his friendliness, and his iconic ‘on the phone’ pose.
Gabe was loved while he was with us here on earth, and will continue to be loved through time and all eternity.
