Janice was born at Scott Airforce base in Bellville, Illinois to Donald and Doris McConaughey on December 1st, 1962. Janice grew up with three older brothers, Michael, Gary, and Jim McConaughey. Their family moved to Houston, Texas shortly after Janice was born. After graduating from CyFair High School, where she was a skilled baton twirler on the drill team, she then attended Sam Houston state university where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Communications.
After relocating to Plano, Texas, in the 1980s, Janice became a mother to her first son, Eric Cooper of McKinney, Texas, and daughter, Kristin Frey of Plano, Texas. In 1999, Janice met her best friend and love of her life, Mark Stone, of Plano, Texas. Janice and Mark married in November of 2002 and together built a beautiful, blended family and later welcomed a son of their own, Dylan Stone. Janice and Mark’s love for each other and their children, stood the test of time and will always be admired by all who knew them.
Janice took pride and care in all things in her life. She had passion for her career at Abernathy Law Firm and cared for her employers and coworkers as her own friends and family. Janice had the greatest love for the simple things in life. She was happiest when cheering on her son, Dylan, and grandson, Liam, at their baseball games or enjoying her backyard oasis with Mark after a long day. Janice was always up for a “quick” shopping trip to Target (they were never truly quick) or watching Hallmark movies and discussing reality tv shows. Above all else, she cherished holidays, as nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her family and sharing traditions with her grandchildren.
Janice is survived by her loving husband, Mark Stone. Her brothers; Michael and Gary McConaughey. Her children; Ashlee Viggiano and husband Alex Viggiano, Eric Cooper and wife Abigail Cooper, Amber Stone, Kristin Frey and husband Scott Frey, Daniel Stone, and Dylan Stone. Her grandchildren; Cheyenne, Collin, Liam, Nixon, and Oliver. And her beloved dog; Sophie “Soph”.
Janice cared deeply for everyone in her life, she had a way to make all she encountered feel loved and special, always putting everyone else before herself. She will forever be remembered as a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.
You rest in the arms of angels
In a place of peace and love
Watching over me always
From Heaven up above.
You rest in the arms of angels
Free from illness and pain
Waiting for the day
We are all together again.
