Jeffrey Alan Cohen
1953 – 2025
Jeffrey Alan Cohen, 71, of Frisco, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, after a long illness. Affectionately known as "Gpa" by his grandsons, he was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and raised in Margate, he was the devoted son of Jack W. and Ethel A. Cohen. Jeff attended Atlantic City High School where he was a varsity runner and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University where he served as a student participant on the board of directors, was a proud member of Tau Epsilon Pi fraternity, and graduated with honors. His passion for learning led him to Pace University, where he obtained a Master of Science in Taxation, and he further enriched his expertise with professional certifications from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, and Yale University.
Jeff’s professional journey was marked by ambition and innovation. After becoming a CPA, he started his career as a tax manager at Touche Ross before becoming one of the first employees at the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, where he served as the Deputy Director of the Division of Financial Evaluation and Control. In this role, he played a pivotal part in opening the first 11 casinos in Atlantic City. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Patricia, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years of marriage.
Following his tenure at the Casino Control Commission, Jeff returned to Touche Ross as a Senior Consultant/Gaming Expert and later contributed his talents to Charlex Productions as Vice President and CFO and as the COO at Howard Schwartz Recording Studios. His entrepreneurial spirit ultimately led him to establish Model Management Group, a leading model and talent agency based in New York City. He was more than just a boss—he was a mentor and a guiding force for those who worked with him, known for his generosity, leadership, and unwavering support of his employees. He was widely respected for his integrity and willingness to always do the right thing.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jeff was a dedicated family man. He and Patricia raised their family in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where some of his happiest moments were coaching his daughters’ soccer and softball teams. He rarely missed a game, especially when his daughter Lisa played Division I softball for The George Washington University. Later in life, he and Patricia moved to Frisco, Texas, to be closer to their daughter and beloved grandsons.
An avid sports fan, Jeff was passionate about Philadelphia sports, particularly his favorite Eagles. He was also a Mason and a member of numerous professional societies. Known for his outgoing and friendly personality, Jeff was someone who always extended a helping hand to those in need.
Preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Debra Lynne Cohen, he is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Hetzel Cohen; his daughter, Lisa Beth Carll, and her husband, Brandon Carll; and his two cherished grandsons, Dalton Jacob and Ashton Michael. He is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Cohen, and several cousins.
