

Joe was born on September 20, 1949 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1967. He went on to Louisiana College, where he played basketball and golf while earning his bachelor’s degree. From 1969-1976, Joe served stateside in the US Army. After coaching high school basketball for two years, Joe had a 7-year career with Service Master Industries in Oklahoma City.
In 1981, Joe felt the Lord’s call into ministry and he faithfully served as a minister of the gospel for 36 years, until his retirement in 2017. He served at Putnam City Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, First Baptist Bossier City, and Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington.
For the last 18 years, Joe has been a minister at Prestonwood Baptist Church. At Prestonwood, Joe was able to combine his love of sports and his passion for people in developing and leading the Prestonwood Sports Organization. He also served as Minister of Missions and Evangelism. In his retirement, he continued to reach out to young men growing up in single-parent families through the PALS ministry, which focused on giving positive and godly male role models to boys.
In 1966, Joe met the love of his life, Linda Blevins Perry. They were married on December 21, 1971 and were happily married for 46 years. Joe is survived by his two sons; Ryan and his wife, Amy; Caleb and his wife,Blaire and six grandchildren, Taylor, Anna Kate, Merritt, Eli, Asa andLydia. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Noel Fain of Benton, Louisiana.
Joe loved being outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisher and golfer. The joy of his life was to share Christ with others, to talk about his sons and to spend time with his grandchildren. His life left an impact on so many and he leaves behind a legacy of commitment to Christ, his church and family.
