Julie earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and went on to travel internationally, teaching English and embracing the world with curiosity and courage. While teaching in Iran, she met the love of her life, Cyrus Firouzi. They were married and welcomed their first child before returning to Washington state, where they had three more children and continued building their life together.
Julie began a remarkable 37-year career with GTE/Verizon. In 1992, she was relocated to Texas, where she and Cyrus raised their family and created a home filled with love and laughter.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Phyllis Dickey; her brother, Dennis Dickey; and her daughter, Erin Colleen Firouzi.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Cyrus Firouzi; her children, Ryan Firouzi (Candice Firouzi), Ann Noelle Mullens, and Libby Dear (Holly Dear); her grandchildren, Hunter Firouzi, Hunter England (Maddie England), Hayden Firouzi, Emma Mullens, Harlen Firouzi; and her great-grandson, Robbie England; her brother, Steven Dickey (Colleen Dickey), and her sister, Colleen Hollis; and extended family.
Julie was the light everywhere she went. She loved to travel, read, and cook, but above all, she loved her family and friends deeply. Her warmth, strength, wit and beautiful spirit will be carried on by all who knew and loved her.
The family will be returning Julie’s ashes to Washington State for a private family service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for prayers for all who love and miss Julie.
Thank you for being the best wife, mother, and Nana. Your love will forever guide us and live on in our hearts.
