Kathleen Ann Hofmann was born February 8, 1952 to Edward and Helen Lester of Peoria Illinois. She was the eldest child of 6. She was preceded in death by her sister Karol Sue Lester and her father Edward.
Kathy spent her first 8 years of schooling going to Catholic school and spent her high school career at Pekin High School in Pekin Illinois. She graduated in 1970. She met her future husband and life long best friend Greg Hofmann senior year. They were married on November 27th 1971. They recently celebrated 48 years of marriage before her passing.
Kathy started a career of data entry and bookkeeping at Pekin Insurance before giving birth to their daughter DeAnna Hofmann in the summer of 1975. She then took a job at Caterpillar in data entry. In 1981 a job opportunity took the family to Burlington Iowa. Her and Greg both worked for Caterpillar until the plant subsequently closed in 1985. The family moved to Bettendorf Iowa. After settling in, Kathy got a job at a locally owned golf store called the Back Nine. During this time, she found and enjoyed the game of golf. In 1996 a job opportunity took the family to Ocala Florida. After many months of looking for a home, they decided to build one. Kathy enjoyed watching the process and making the house as home. She then went to work for a local dairy distributor Velda Farms. Her job was eliminated in 2012 and she semi-retired. In 2004 she became a grandmother to her beautiful granddaughter Emelia LeeAnn “Emme”. She enjoyed watching her grow and was interested in understanding the genetic syndrome that Emme was born with.
In 2017 after Greg retired, her and Greg moved to Holt Michigan to be with their daughter and granddaughter. They enjoyed traveling and recently enjoyed a trip to Hawaii. Kathy wanted to visit all 50 states during her retirement.
She was full of life and often referred to as the life of the party and called “Team Leader” by her beloved family. Kathy was warm and welcoming and enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their home. Their home was often the meeting place for friends and neighbors to gather and unwind on Friday evenings after a long week of work. Kathy also enjoyed Classic Rock and Roll music and enjoyed concerts and places that had live music. Her love of family was the center of her life and showed in everything she did.
