Kaylene Clark passed from this life on August 26, 2016 in Plano, Texas with her family at her bedside. She we born on March 4, 1969 in Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada; the youngest of two daughters. Her family moved around the states until 1980 when her father left the Air Force and the family settled in his home town of Waxahachie, Texas.
Family and friends recall Kaylene as a happy, fun-loving, precocious tomboy as a child. She loved to play with dolls and play sports. She was silly, loved to laugh, and loved to make people laugh. Kaylene was always proud of her German roots. She loved to be anywhere with her wonderful family. However, Traverse City, Michigan held a special place in her heart. Kaylene loved to cook and bake and always had the knack of finding just the right recipe. Holidays were extra special with her in the kitchen performing her magic. Kaylene’s personality was reflected in two of her favorite movies: “You’ve Got Mail” and “A League of Their Own.”
Kaylene attended Waxahachie High School and graduated in 1987. She also attended an Administrative Assistants school in the Dallas area. However, her first and foremost occupation was that of a MOTHER. Kaylene loved being a MOTHER! She was active in her faith worshiping with friends and family at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, Texas.
If you asked others what Kaylene was like, their responses were unanimous: a Loving Mother – first and foremost. Her love for her children is what carried her through the years. Kaylene was a devoted wife. She was kind and compassionate and always thinking of others first. Kaylene loved animals and her dogs were always treated like family members. No one will ever forget her great sense of humor.
The love of Kaylene’s life was Lyle Clark. They were married in Rockwall, Texas on July 15, 1995. He was her husband, her best friend, and her companion forever.
Kaylene was preceded in death by her parents, Finis Marshall Defoore, Jr. and Kathleen Kay Schaffer Defoore Michener.
Kaylene’s legacy will continue on through her beloved daughters: Sydney, 14 years old and Hayley, 11 years old. Her cherished memories will be carried on with her sister, Ami and her husband, Blaise Decker as well as her dog, Lucy.
Kaylene was adamant her health would not dictate how their family lived their lives. Through everything, her husband and children were her number one focus and her children were provided every opportunity to succeed in every endeavor. Her husband, Lyle, said it best, “Kaylene was the strongest person I will ever know in my life.”
Kaylene was loved while she was with us and will continue to be loved through time and all eternity.
