

Laura Lynn Long McRee passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, in Frisco, Texas. She was born on December 25, 1964, in Waynesboro, Mississippi—a Christmas gift whose life would become a blessing to so many.
Laura devoted her life to caring for others as a registered nurse, a calling she embraced with compassion, skill, and quiet strength. She attended Mississippi State University and later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). Throughout her career, she touched countless lives offering comfort, kindness, and dedication to her patients and colleagues.
Beyond her profession, Laura was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and it showed through her generosity and love for her friends and the many others she came into contact with. After retiring, she found great joy in traveling with her beloved husband, creating cherished memories together. She treasured her friendships and gave freely of her time, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her gentle spirit and loving heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Laura was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William Franklin Long, Sr. and Zenobia Parker Long, and her maternal grandparents John Lawrence Cheatham and Vera Annie Cheatham.
She is lovingly remembered by her parents, William Franklin Long, Jr. and Annette Cheatham Long; her brothers, William Franklin Long, III and John Thomas Long; and her devoted husband, Richard Kent McRee. She also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members who will forever hold her memory close.
A Celebration of Life honoring Laura will be held on April 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Shawnee Trail Church of Christ, 10633 John W. Elliott Blvd., Frisco, Texas.
Flowers are welcome at the service, or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shawnee Trail Church of Christ Missions Ministry.
Laura’s life was one of compassion, generosity, and love. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the hearts of all she touched.
