Mark Louis Thorpe

Mark was born on August 6, 1982 in Plano, Texas to Patricia Thorpe and John Thorpe. He grew up with one brother and two sisters. Mark attended Rosemeade Elementary School, Blalack Middle School, graduated from Creekview High School, and graduated from the University of Texas - Dallas with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Mark and Chelsey (Mooney) were married on May 15, 2012 in Destin, Florida and most recently lived in Weatherford, Texas where he and Chelsey were turning their house into a beautiful home.

From an early age, Mark excelled in all types of sports; a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court, a formidable soccer player, and a standout baseball player. His competitive nature and drive to succeed served him well in his pursuit of sports. Camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities also developed into favorite activities.

With his training in electrical engineering Mark built a successful career, most recently as a Professional Electrical Engineer with RSP Engineering. He carried his training and natural aptitude through to projects at home and loved to come up with creative solutions to any challenge, including building structures, furniture, etc. by hand to his exacting standards.

Mark was accomplished as a pianist, artist, furniture designer and builder, and landscaper. He excelled at taking an interest in a project, educating himself about it, and working on it until it met his standards.

Mark’s legacy however lies in his unfailing willingness and eagerness to help others. Often times he could be found quietly taking care of and helping others, expecting no recognition. Those who knew him over the years have seen many examples of his kindness and generosity going back to when he was a young boy. He was a favorite of his many cousins, nieces, and nephews; always patient with a big smile on his face.

He is sorely missed.

Mark is survived by his wife Chelsey, his mother Patricia of Carrollton, his father John of Dripping Springs, Texas, his brother Josh of Alhambra, California, sister Christiana (Rob) Hardege and nieces Kora and Madison of Temple City, California, sister Lisa (Daniel) Womble and nephew Vincent of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Mark also leaves behind many much loved cousins, aunts, uncles, a grandmother, and other family members and friends.
