Nancy Lynne (Hamilton) Fuller, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Frisco, TX on June 9, 2025 at the age of 72, in the care of her husband and daughter.
Nancy was born to Gilbert and Margie Hamilton in Detroit, MI on September 15, 1952. She had a fun younger sister named Lana who could always make her laugh. Nancy’s father was an FBI agent and so the family followed the job assignments to Gary, IN, Las Vegas, NV and finally, Phoenix, AZ. Nancy enjoyed hiking with her church youth group to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and she attended Scottsdale High School, where she edited the school newspaper and graduated near the top of her class. Nancy took piano lessons for 8 years, and her family loved to hear her play “Autumn Leaves”.
Nancy met Roddy during the summer before college. She attended Abilene Christian University for two years, and then Nancy and Roddy married on May 13, 1972. They moved to Austin where she later graduated from the University of Texas and worked at a public high school and a public library. Nancy and Roddy had one daughter named Amy. Nancy was a gentle and quiet mother who taught Amy by example, and with books. Over the years Roddy, Nancy and Amy enjoyed many trips to visit family in Arizona and East Texas, and often joined Nancy’s parents, sister, niece and nephew on educational and scenic vacations to the east and west coasts.
When Amy reached middle school, Nancy attended Texas Woman’s University and earned a master’s degree in Library Science. She spent 17 wonderful years as an elementary school librarian in Lewisville and Frisco ISDs. After retirement, Nancy continued her love of sharing books with children by gifting beautiful books to her grandchildren and great-nieces and great-nephews. Her three grandchildren, Liam, Mary and Clara, always enjoyed reading time with Nanna.
Nancy was a member of Stonebriar Community Church where she volunteered at the church library. She also enjoyed Bible studies with her friends, and volunteering with a group that funded a library in Zambia. Nancy spent many hours previewing and purchasing children’s books that she hoped would be appropriate in that culture. She lived out her faith quietly and gracefully, with constant care and admiration for everyone around her. Gratitude always filled her heart.
In Nancy’s final years, between rounds of chemotherapy and fun visits with her grandchildren, she made several trips back to Arizona to see her sister and care for her parents. She had a great love and respect for them. When at home, she enjoyed knitting, housekeeping, jigsaw puzzles, and reading books by or about people of faith. She especially enjoyed being with Roddy while they watched a show, played cards, walked in the neighborhood and watched the birds in the backyard. Nancy and Roddy were blessed to celebrate 53 years of marriage.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Margie Hamilton and her grandson, Liam Lowe. She is survived by her husband Roddy, daughter Amy Lowe and husband Matt and their children Mary and Clara of Abilene, TX, her sister Lana Franks of Scottsdale, AZ, and Lana’s children: Jason Franks and family of Stanwood, WA, and Kelly Langdal and family of Phoenix, AZ.
Nancy’s memorial service will be on Wednesday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at Stonebriar Funeral Home in Frisco, TX. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Buffalo Gap, near Abilene, TX.
In lieu of flowers, please consider helping others by donating new or used children’s books to the charity of your choice, or by providing clean water, as Nancy and Roddy liked to do in memory of their grandson, at thewaterproject.org/liam.
