“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory… the King will say…’Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.’” Matthew 25:31-34
Rhelma Gleeson went to receive her heavenly reward and be with her Savior on December 12, 2021. Rhelma Faye Bragg Gleeson was born December 6, 1922, to Ira Milburn Bragg and Ila Lowery Bragg in DeSoto, Texas. On March 7, 1941, she married C. Woodrow Gleeson and enjoyed 52 happy years together until his passing in 1993.
Rhelma was a long-time resident of Duncanville, Texas and very active member of the community. In 1949 she and Woodrow helped found the Duncanville Church of Christ (now Grace Place Church of Christ) where she was an active teacher, supportive elders’ wife and member for 64 years. She and Woodrow made many missions trips, both domestic and international, for oversight and encouragement. She established an endowed scholarship at Abilene Christian University for the encouragement and support of mission students.
A 1941 graduate of Duncanville High School, Rhelma was active in service to the schools, serving as president of the PTA/PTO for several terms. Also, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where in 2019 she was honored for 30 years of service by the Old Chisholm Trail Chapter.
In 2013, Rhelma moved to Frisco, Texas to be with her family that loved her dearly.
Rhelma was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, a brother James M. (Buddy) Bragg, sister Thelma Mason Montgomery and a baby sister that died shortly after birth. She is survived by son Charles W. Gleeson and wife Claudia E. Gleeson of Frisco, granddaughter Charlyn G. Plunk and husband Jake Plunk of Frisco, great grandson Branson C. Plunk, and great granddaughters Tatum E. Plunk and Cortlyn V. Plunk. Also, she is survived by her wonderful sister Jean Bragg Priest and many nieces, nephews and close family friend she called her “second son”, Dennis C. Jordan.
The family would like to note their appreciation to those who helped care for Rhelma during the last of her journey to her eternal home; Cindy Housman, Guadalupe Humara, Isabel Humara, Cindy Musisi, Liz Jones. Missy Ridgner, Josey Vineyard and Denise William.
A grave side service will be held for family and friends on January 8 ,2022 at 2:00pm at Little Bethel Cemetery 1803 Cedar Hill Road, Duncanville, Texas.
