In 1961, Sawae married the love of her life, William Fisher, and soon after made the courageous move from Japan to the United States. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, and dedication. Sawae embraced her new home with grace, raising her children and surrounding those she loved with warmth, support, and unwavering devotion.
For the past 27 years, Sawae resided with her daughter and son-in-law, a time filled with companionship, laughter, and deep family bonds. She was known for her gentle spirit, kindness, and quiet strength. Whether with family, relatives, or friends, Sawae offered a sweetness and sincerity that touched every heart she encountered.
Sawae is survived by her son Walter (Kim) of Ohio and her daughter Diana (Kevin) of Texas; her cherished grandchildren Erin, Matthew, Alexandra, and Amanda; and her great-granddaughter Ava. She is also survived by her stepchildren William J., William E., and Donald J., as well as their families. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and her stepdaughter Dolores.
Honoring Sawae’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in a cemetery in Ohio, reunited with him in peaceful rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that prayers and good thoughts be offered in her memory. May Sawae’s gentle soul be forever remembered and her life honored through the love she shared so generously.
